Acupuncture: What to Expect
Consultation
We begin with a thorough health assessment, where you are welcome to share your history, concerns and goals openly. You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire covering your symptoms, daily routine and any medications you take.
Before Your Visit
- Clothing: Please wear loose, comfortable garments that are easy to adjust. For ease of access, women may wish to wear a bikini top if comfortable, and men shorts.
- Diet: Avoid heavy meals or alcohol shortly before your appointment, but do have a light snack or breakfast so you are not coming on an empty stomach.
- Important: Please tell us about any health conditions, including pregnancy, hernias or other concerns, so we can adapt your care safely.
During Your Session
We will select the most appropriate points based on your individual needs. We use fine, sterile needles; you may feel very mild sensations, but treatment should not be painful. Please let us know straight away if you feel any discomfort, and we will adjust or remove needles right away. Needles are usually left in place for 20–40 minutes, giving your body time to respond fully.
General Points
- All needles are single‑use, sterile and disposed of safely after every treatment.
After Your Appointment
It is normal to feel deeply relaxed, gently energised or a little tired afterwards. Occasionally you may notice mild fatigue, light-headedness, or slight tenderness or tiny bruises at needle sites — these usually fade within a few days to a week.
Post-Treatment care for best results:
- Drink plenty of water to support your body’s natural healing.
- Take things easy for the rest of the day — please skip intense exercise or heavy activity.
- Note any changes in how you feel, so we can build on them together at your next visit.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have at any time — we are here to support you every step of the way.
