Acupuncture: What to Expect

Consultation

During the consultation, your acupuncturist will conduct a health assessment. We encourage you to discuss your health history and main concerns openly. You’ll be asked to fill out a questionnaire detailing your symptoms, lifestyle, and medications.

Preparation

Attire: Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. Women may prefer to wear a bikini top if you feel comfortable; men can wear shorts.

Diet: Avoid heavy meals or alcohol beforehand, but make sure to have a light breakfast.

Disclosure: It's important to inform your acupuncturist about any medical conditions, including hernias, pregnancy, or other concerns.

During Your Session

Evaluation: Your acupuncturist will choose relevant acupuncture points after evaluating your condition.

Needle Insertion: Thin needles will be inserted; mild sensations may occur, but they should not be painful. If you experience any discomfort, we can remove the needles.

Duration: The needles will remain inserted for about 20-40 minutes, allowing your body to respond to the treatment.

After Your Appointment

You may feel relaxed, slightly tired, or energized after your session. Temporary fatigue or dizziness can occur, and mild soreness or bruising at insertion sites is normal, typically dissipating within a week.

Post-Treatment Care

Hydration: Drink plenty of water to help with recovery.

Activities: Please avoid strenuous activities or intensive workouts for the rest of the day. Taking it easy will allow the treatment to be more effective.

Symptom Monitoring: Keep track of any changes in your symptoms and communicate these in future sessions.

Consultation

During the consultation, your acupuncturist will conduct a thorough health assessment. We encourage you to discuss your health history and main concerns openly. You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire detailing your symptoms, lifestyle, and medications.

Awareness

Please inform us of any relevant medical history, including past Botox or filler treatments, facial surgeries, blood-thinning medications, high blood pressure, migraines, or headaches. This information is essential for us to provide you with the best possible care. It’s also important to disclose any medical conditions, pregnancy, or other concerns to your acupuncturist.

Preparation

Please eat something before your appointment; arriving on an empty stomach is discouraged. Please arrive without makeup, or be prepared to remove it before your session. We recommend avoiding reapplying makeup for at least 30 minutes following your treatment. If you have had Botox or fillers within the last six months, it’s advisable to avoid treating that area; however, we can focus on other parts of the face. If you are experiencing active inflammation, ongoing migraines, or other issues, we suggest scheduling a few regular acupuncture sessions to help bring you to a state of ease before proceeding with face acupuncture.

During Your Session

Your acupuncturist will select specific acupuncture points tailored to your skin condition. As this treatment involves several needles, it’s important that you feel comfortable with having them placed on your face. If you experience any discomfort, please inform us so we can either remove the needles or refrain from working on sensitive areas. Once inserted, the needles will remain in place for about 20 minutes, allowing your body to effectively respond to the treatment.

After Your Appointment

After your session, you may experience feelings of relaxation, slight tiredness, or even a boost of energy. If you tend to feel lightheaded, we recommend arranging for someone to collect you afterward. Temporary bruising and blotchy skin may occur for a short period, and mild soreness or bruising at the needle insertion sites is normal; these effects typically dissipate within a week. Please keep this in mind, especially before important events. If you're prone to bruising, we suggest bringing your own arnica cream or a similar product.

Post-Treatment Care

To aid your recovery, be sure to drink plenty of water. We recommend avoiding strenuous activities or intensive workouts for the remainder of the day, as allowing yourself to rest will enhance the treatment's effectiveness. Pay attention to any changes in your appearance and consider taking before-and-after photos to evaluate the impact of the treatment.

Questions and Concerns

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the treatment process or associated risks, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your acupuncturist. We are here to support you on your journey toward improved appearance.
